MTL PRODUCTS
All of the products shown are suitable for the treatment of any type of liquid or gas.
The most common use of the products is for the treatment of fuel used in engines (petrol and diesel), and heating (natural gas - methane; LPG - propane & butane; and oil).
There are numerous other applications, involving other gases and liquids, including the treatment of water to minimise the build-up of scale.
Most of the product descriptions include an indication of the pipe diameter, and the heater or engine size that the product is capable of treating.
In most cases, larger pipe diameters/heating appliances/engines can still be treated either by fitting multiple units of the particular products involved, or by using one of the larger/more powerful products.
The pipe diameters quoted against each product description in the following notes can also apply for water pipes etc .
‘X’ multi-purpose products (UK Manufacture)
The products are suitable for fuel treatment and also for water treatment etc.
The 'X’ products are fitted to the pipe by the use of cable ties.
X1
X1 |
|
|
X1 - dimensions (L) 30mm x (W) 30mm x (D) 18mm each half-shell (36mm pair)
The X1 is the smallest of the range, and consists of two small, green plastic, modules each containing a Neodymium Iron Boron (NdFeB) magnet.
The use of two modules ensures that the magnetism is able to penetrate to the centre of up to 15mm diameter pipe and treat all of the passing liquid/gas.
The inner curve of the casing means that the two halves fit together snugly around the pipe, bringing the magnets into close proximity with the majority of the pipe surface.
Suitable for pipe diameters up to 15mm
Suitable for all non-ferrous pipes - plastic, rubber, copper, aluminium etc.
Not suitable for use on steel or iron pipes above 1.5mm wall thickness, although, they can be used on some types of stainless steel. (If the magnet is not attracted to the stainless steel pipe it can be used)
The X1 is designed to fit onto household heating appliances and engines (up to 2L). On very small appliances/machines with small diameter pipes (up to 8mm, e.g. individual heaters, barbecues, garden strimmers etc) it is possible to use a single module, thereby providing an extremely low-cost solution.
X8/X9/10 (UK Manufacture)
Multi-purpose (fuel and water etc) treatment products
X8 - Dimensions: (L) 165mm x (W) 50mm x (D) 20mm
It has a significantly slimmer profile than any other currently available product, extremely useful when space is at a premium.
The X8 contains 4 Neodymium Iron Boron (NdFeB) magnetic modules (unshielded) along its length.
Suitable for pipe diameters up to 40mm
Suitable for all non-ferrous pipes - plastic, rubber, copper, aluminium etc.
Not suitable for use on steel or iron pipes above 2mm wall thickness, although, they can be used on some types of stainless steel. (If the magnet is not attracted to the stainless steel pipe it can be used)
There are three versions:
The standard version -X8(AMP) - which provides alternating polarity, at the contact surface, along the length of the module.
Single polarity versions - X8 (N) (north only) and X8 (S) (south only), these are designed to be used in pairs on thin walled steel pipe.
The X8 is used for the main central heating boiler (oil or gas) in a house . It can also be used on water supplies to inhibit limescale.
Finally, it is used on engines to improve the combustion efficiency - a single unit can treat up to a 10 litre engine

MT-C range - multi-purpose products for use on thick-walled steel pipes, and large diameter non-ferrous pipes
A PROBLEM often encountered is that the application of magnetic conditioners on thicker-walled steel pipes (over 2mm) and on large diameter, non-ferrous, pipes (over 3”/75mm dia.) does not always produce satisfactory results.
Steel pipes. Existing conditioners do not have sufficient power to penetrate the wall of the steel pipes, and the magnetism appears instead to track along the external surface of the pipe until it encounters the end of a pipe (a joint, fitting or weld) and then tracks back along the internal surface of the section of pipe.
The consequences of this are, firstly, it can take several weeks to generate a magnetic field inside the pipe, secondly, the field eventually generated is often relatively weak, and thirdly, it does not penetrate to the centre of the pipe void.
Non-ferrous pipes (large diameter - over 3”/75mm) A problem on large diameter non-ferrous pipes is that although the magnetic fields can penetrate the pipe wall, the magnets used are often of insufficient strength to create a strong enough magnetic field in the centre of the void of the pipe.
OUR RESPONSE to these reported problems is the MT-C range of products. These have been designed for use on thicker-walled steel pipes, and also on larger-diameter non-ferrous pipes.
The MT-C products are supplied in pairs, one module being south-seeking the other, north-seeking.It is intended that a single twin-module set should be sufficient to treat the fuel. (It may be that two twin-module sets will be necessary where high velocity throughput of fuel occurs.)
The twin magnets used for these products are encased in stainless steel (details and illustrations to follow).
First are the MT-C15, C25, C40 and C50.
 |
Each of the plastic casings contains a substantial size neodymium magnet.
The magnets generate 3500-4000 gauss on the external contact surface of each module.
MT-C15 is for pipe up to 16mm external diameter
MT-C25 is for pipe up to 25mm external diameter |
|
MT-C40 is for pipe up to 40mm external diameter
MT-C50 is for pipe up to 50mm external diameter |
Second are the MT-C60 and MT-C80
|
The stainless steel casings each contains a substantial size neodymium magnet, fitted with a shield.
The magnets generate 4500-5000 gauss on the external contact surface of each module.
MT-C60, are for use on pipe diameters up 65mm
MT-C80 are for use on pipe diameters up 85mm
Installed as a pair, the combined unit will produce at least 1000 gauss across the internal void of steel pipes, within a few minutes. |
TESTS
Steel-Pipe. Tests on 2” diameter steel pipe, with a 5mm wall-thickness resulted in the creation of a strong magnetic field (in excess of 1400 gauss), across the void of the pipe, within 2 minutes of application.
Work is continuing to create specifications for further products to cater for all of the most common diameters/wall thicknesses (up to and including 8” diameter).
Non-ferrous pipes. A similar test (with the same basic unit) on a 2” diameter non-ferrous pipe produced a field in excess of 1500 gauss, across the void of the pipe, instantly
MT6, MT7(N), MT7(S) and M7T(M) (Supplied from Germany)
multi-purpose products
These powerful products are multi-purpose products, suitable for fuel treatment and also for water treatment.
The MT6 consists of two modules, which can be bolted together.
The unit caters for pipe diameters from 20mm up to a maximum of 59mm external diameter (bolted), 80mm (unbolted).
Each module contains 8 Neodymium Iron Boron (NdFeB) magnets. The magnets are set in pairs of alternating polarity.
The use of two modules ensures that the magnetism is able to penetrate to the centre of the fuel line and treat all of the passing liquid/gas.
The MT6/7 range of products are shielded
The MT7(N), MT7(S) and MT7(M) products are variations of the MT6 for use on pipes diameters in excess of 80mm.

Dimensions: (L) 150mm, x (W) 85mm, x (D) 80mm extending up to 140mm depth, dependent on the pipe diameter.
